Built for investors who don't watch the market all day
Teal Comet started as a response to a simple problem: good investment decisions shouldn't require constant screen-watching. Here's how we think, and why.
Why we exist
Most risk management tools were built for people sitting at a desk, watching charts tick by. We built Teal Comet for a different kind of investor — one who travels, runs a business, or simply refuses to let a portfolio dictate their schedule.
The idea was straightforward: combine disciplined stop-loss logic with predictive signals, so protection happens automatically instead of relying on someone noticing a chart at the right moment. What started as an internal tool for a small group of location-independent traders became the foundation of Teal Comet.
We're not trying to predict the market perfectly. We're trying to reduce the damage when it moves against you, and do it quietly, in the background, without demanding your attention.
Our operating principles
These aren't framed on a wall somewhere — they're the decisions we actually make when building and refining the product.
Protection before prediction
We'd rather limit downside reliably than chase upside speculatively. Stop-loss discipline comes first; everything else is built around it.
Automation over attention
If a feature requires someone to be watching a screen at the right moment, we consider it unfinished. Good risk tools work while you're asleep.
Clarity over complexity
Every signal and setting should be explainable in plain language. We avoid black-box logic that users can't reason about.
Built for real schedules
Time zones, spotty connections, long flights — we design assuming you won't always be reachable, because that's the whole point.
Honest about limits
No tool removes market risk entirely. We're explicit about what predictive signals can and can't do, instead of overselling certainty.
Steady iteration
We treat the product as a long-term discipline, not a launch-and-forget feature set. Small, considered improvements over time.
The team approach
Teal Comet is built by a small, focused group rather than a large organization chasing every feature request. That keeps the product coherent and the priorities clear.
Market behavior & signals
Studying how volatility and risk events actually unfold, so predictive logic is grounded in observed patterns rather than guesswork.
Reliability first
Building systems that execute stop-loss decisions consistently, with monitoring in place for when things don't go as expected.
Plain-language guidance
Helping users understand what the tool is doing and why, rather than leaving settings as an unexplained black box.
Where we're headed
We keep refining Teal Comet around one question: does this make it easier to manage risk without being glued to a screen? If a feature doesn't clearly answer yes, it doesn't make the cut.
